The City Manager's Office provides day-to-day direction for the City.
The City Manager makes recommendations on operations and policies to the Mayor and City Council. The City Manager is appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.
Mr. David Jones currently serves as Urbandale's City Manager. Jones started his role with the City in January 2025. Jones has over 25 years of local government management experience, receiving a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications from Kennesaw State University in Georgia.
