Overview
The Civil Service Commission consists of 3 members who must be residents of Urbandale. Members are appointed by the Mayor, approved by the City Council and serve 4-year terms.
Areas of Focus
- The commission’s jurisdiction pertains to all full-time city employees, except the city’s management team and staff members from the library and water utility
- Establishes and protects the rights of Civil Service employees
- Provides for the fair examination, promotion and judicial treatment of Civil Service employees
