Board of Appeals

Overview

The Board of Appeals consists of seven members, of whom two must be general or home building contractors; two members of the general public with a good understanding of building construction; one member of the electrical profession; and one member of the plumbing profession. Architects and engineers are given preference. Members are appointed by the Mayor, approved by the City Council and serve 3-year terms.

Board's Areas of Focus

• Reviews the model building, fire and housing codes and recommends adoption by the City Council
• Reviews building code, fire code and housing code appeals
